Video: How Renault F1 team is heaping more pressure on itself – F1

Formula 1

After a difficult start to the 2019 Formula 1 season, Renault has revealed details about its struggles so far this term.

The team was expected to not only consolidate its fourth place in the constructors’ championship, but bridge the gap to F1’s ‘big three’ teams in 2019.

Yet it currently lies eighth in the standings, and admitted during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend that earlier in the season it adopted “containment measures” that meant its engine was run at reduced power in the Chinese and Azerbaijan GPs.

Edd Straw and Jonathan Noble discuss what has been going on at Renault so far this year, and how its declaration that it will have it troubles sorted out by its home round at Paul Ricard puts the team under even more pressure to prove it can break clear of the midfield.
