Schmidt Peterson Motorsports will not enter the car raced this year by Robert Wickens at the Gateway IndyCar round following the crash in which he sustained major injuries.
Wickens suffered major injuries after a huge shunt at Pocono Raceway last weekend, and his car was written off.
His team-mate James Hinchcliffe suffered minor injuries to his hands in the course of the same accident, having spun to avoid Wickens and been collected by Pietro Fittipaldi.
Hinchcliffe has been cleared to drive, although his car was badly damaged too, but the #6 car driven by Wickens will not be entered.
Wickens underwent surgery last night on his spine, while today the medical focus was on remedial work to his legs and feet.
Meanwhile, Harding Racing has confirmed that Gabby Chaves will drive its #88 car in place of Conor Daly, who is racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America.
“I am really enthused and ready to get behind the wheel of the 88 car and be back with my guys,” said Chaves.
“We’re ready to speed up our development and progression, and we’re more driven than ever to get some of the results we know are possible based on our results from last season.”
