The latest edition of The Autosport Podcast focuses on our top 50 drivers of 2017, answering reader questions such as why Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is number one.

As well as explaining the methodology behind the list, and some of the thought processes behind why some drivers made the cut and some didn’t, we also discuss how difficult it is to evaluate drivers in vastly different machinery and championships.

Glenn Freeman, Kevin Turner and Tom Errington join host Edd Straw to delve into all things top 50 and hopefully give the listeners a better understanding of how, and why, the decision-making process works.

As well as the question of who is number one, we also field questions on why World Rally champion Sebastien Ogier and World Rallycross champion Johan Kristoffersson aren’t ranked higher.

Daniel Ricciardo, ranked number one in both 2014 and 2016, explains what the Autosport top 50 means to him.
