Video: How difficult it is to be Kris Meeke’s WRC co-driver? – WRC

Co-driving for Kris Meeke has been something of a mixed bag for Paul Nagle this year.

He has bagged a couple of wins alongside the Northern Irishman, but there has been the odd inversion to go with that success.

Offered the chance to sit in Nagle’s seat ahead of Rally Spain, Autosport’s rallies editor David Evans jumped at the chance.

After a quick recce, Evans guided Meeke into the gravel test in central France and managed half of the stage before his driver gave up on him and threw his notes away.

“I’ve always had huge respect for co-drivers,” said Evans. “I’ve got even more now.

“I had no problem with reading in the car or the movement or anything like that, what I struggled with was a feel for when to deliver them.

“Basically, I was much quicker than Kris. He told me to slow down, I told him to crack on.

“It didn’t go well. I won’t be invited back.”
