Rodin Cars, manufacturer of the FZED car designed for the track, will move into a new showroom to present its single-seater car in a special display with the ready-to-race car available for customer delivery.
The Rodin FZED will be available to view by appointment only, to adhere to COVID-19 restrictions, ad will take pride of place in its Donington Park showroom at the circuit’s main entrance.
Red Bull junior Liam Lawson, who will compete in the FIA Formula 2 championship and selected rounds in the DTM this year, and W Series’ champion and Williams Formula 1 test driver Jamie Chadwick joined founder, CEO and racer David Dicker on testing duty for the Rodin FZED which is expected to be faster than a current-spec F2 car.
Powered by a 3.8-litre Cosworth GPV8 engine and weighing just 589kg, the single-seater car possess stunning speed, reaching 0-160km/h in five seconds and has a top speed of 300km/h. The Rodin FZED is predicted to challenge for the Donington Park all-time lap record set by Ayrton Senna in the McLaren MP4/8 F1 car back in 1993.
Alongside its showroom, Rodin Cars’ new facility will also host a high-end gallery and networking centre for clients, with founder and CEO Dicker delighted at the move.
“The Donington Park facility is the next step forward for the continued growth of the Rodin Cars brand,” Dicker said. “I am looking forward to being able to showcase the engineering excellence of our vehicles in this location, starting with the display of this brand new FZED.
“While we are a New Zealand-based company, our plan has always been to establish an additional UK base. We have big plans for the new space, with a desire to showcase not just our supercars, but also the state-of-the-art technology and engineering that is going into their manufacturing.”
Rodin FZED testing and development will continue to take place at its headquarters in New Zealand where the company has its own test track and engineering centre, where it also runs a specialist three-day driver training programme.
