IndyCar will allow fans into an event for the first time in the 2020 season at next month’s double-header round at Road America.
The REV Group Grand Prix will feature a race on Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July, and “under the guidance of public health officials, medical experts and local, state and federal authorities, IndyCar and Road America will observe safe social distancing practices and provide enhanced hygiene and safety precautions for all fans attending the event.”
All guests will be screened in their vehicles with contactless temperature checks before entering parking areas, and each guest will be given a PPE kit that includes a face mask and hand sanitiser.
Fans are encouraged to practice safe social distancing and wear a cloth face-covering where social distancing is difficult to maintain.
Only essential racing personnel will have access to the IndyCar paddock.
Enhanced cleaning and sanitising procedures will also be implemented throughout the facility during the weekend.

Road America will welcome motorsport fans this weekend for the second round of the MotoAmerica Superbike series, which kicked off its coronavirus-delayed season at the same venue behind closed doors at the end of last month.
IndyCar’s delayed 2020 campaign got underway on 6 June at Texas Motor Speedway, with the race run behind closed doors.
Scott Dixon got his title charge off to the best possible start with victory in Texas, while his Chip Ganassi team-mate Felix Rosenqvist threw away a podium late on with a crash.
IndyCar is expected to allow fans into the rescheduled Indianapolis 500 on 23 August, but only at 50% capacity, while the Grand Prix of Indianapolis is – at least currently – to be run behind closed doors. The double-header at Iowa the weekend after the Road America rounds is also going to be open to a select number of spectators.
After its initial run of races on its return from the coronavirus-forced hiatus, NASCAR let a small amount of fans into the grandstands at Talladega last weekend.
