Visa issues threaten DragonSpeed’s IndyCar return with Hanley – IndyCar

The DragonSpeed team looks set to miss this weekend’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio as the team has encountered an issue with visas.

The squad’s original schedule for its inaugural season in the series – with IndyCar rookie Ben Hanley its sole driver – included St Petersburg, Barber Motorsports Park, the Indianapolis 500, Mid-Ohio and the finale at Laguna Seca.

Hanley scored the team’s best result on its debut at St Petersburg with 18th from 12th on the grid, added a 21st-place finish at Barber and a driveshaft failure ended a promising run at the Indy 500.

Following the team’s double retirement at the Le Mans 24 Hours, it has now hit problems in its attempt to re-enter the United States.

Dragonspeed team boss Elton Julian announced in May that the team would be ending its LMP1 participation at the end of the World Endurance Championship season to focus on IndyCar in 2020, although he intends for DragonSpeed to continue its LMP2 campaign in the WEC and also race in the European Le Mans Series.
