Lewis Hamilton had to fend off attacks from Max Verstappen amid major tyre worries to take his third victory in Formula 1’s Monaco Grand Prix.
Winning under big pressure in Monte Carlo earned comparisons to Ayrton Senna resisting Nigel Mansell in a similar manner in 1992, but in the post-race Autosport podcast Scott Mitchell and Edd Straw consider why this was a very different form of Monaco classic.
They also assess the weekend’s big controversies, from Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas’s pitlane clash to Charles Leclerc’s Q1 humiliation and brief race, and star performances further back including an outstanding drive from Carlos Sainz Jr.
The Indianapolis 500 features too, with Matt Beer joining the podcast to discuss how Simon Pagenaud overcame Alexander Rossi as Takuma Sato bore down on them both.
