Andretti Autosport has announced a formal partnership with fellow IndyCar team Harding Steinbrenner Racing through its technology arm.
Andretti supported Harding in its first full IndyCar season in 2018, providing at-track help in the season finale at Sonoma.
But a troubled off-season has led to Harding releasing Indy Lights champion Patricio O’Ward because it could not provide him with a full-season Honda engine after the team switched from Chevrolet.
The Honda switch has, however, brought the fledgling team in-line with Andretti, which will provide “engineering and development support through the 2019 season” to Harding.
That support will come from Andretti Technologies, the advanced technology offshoot of the racing operation that has helped support Andretti’s Formula E programme alongside BMW.
Harding will also be staffed by what Andretti described as “veteran” race engineers already at its team.
IndyCar has restricted development of its universal aerokit car, with the focus largely on the intense battleground of shock absorbers and dampers.
