The McLaren Formula 1 team has given its strongest indication yet that it will return to a more traditional orange livery in 2018 with a teaser video released on Monday.
A fictional night security guard enters the team’s Woking factory to investigate a disturbance, and finds many of McLaren’s most famous papaya-liveried cars – including the F1 M7A, M16 IndyCar and Can-Am M8D – congregated on McLaren Technology Centre’s concourse.
They connect to a murky image of what appears to be the new MCL33, which seems to sport a predominantly orange engine cover, and is clearly fitted with the halo cockpit protection device.
Fernando Alonso told Autosport earlier this year that he would like McLaren’s 2018 F1 livery to be similar to the one he raced with in last year’s Indianapolis 500.
