LCR Honda MotoGP rider Cal Crutchlow has sustained a finger injury but expects to be fit for this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix at Misano.
An LCR statement said Crutchlow sliced the index finger on his left hand with a knife during an accident at his training base in Italy on Sunday.
He sought medical attention when it continued to bleed next morning, and was diagnosed with a cut tendon at Pistola Hospital.
An operation was carried out to reattach the tendon and a custom-made splint fitted.
“I was taken care of very well at the hospital, they did a good job,” said Crutchlow.
“Since then I visited a hand specialist in Parma who made me a splint for the finger to give me every opportunity to ride at my best this weekend for the San Marino GP.”
He admitted the injury was likely to have some impact on his performance at Misano.
“I am sure it will be difficult, but I will try 100% as always,” said Crutchlow. “Let’s see how it goes.”
