Fans have been given the chance to design Valtteri Bottas’s crash helmet for the 2018 Formula 1 season.

The Mercedes team said the winning design, which will be selected by Bottas personally, will be used for the “majority” of grands prix for the upcoming campaign.

It follows team-mate Lewis Hamilton’s decision to use a fan-designed helmet for the 2017 season after holding a competition that garnered more than 8,000 entries.

Jenson Button also used a fan vote to determine his design for the 2016 season, his final full campaign in F1.

The winner of the competition will also receive a replica of the helmet signed by Bottas.

Further details of how to enter the competition can be found here.
